St. Andrew the Apostle Religious Education Registration 2016-2017

We have another wonderful year ahead of us at St. Andrew the Apostle and we want to invite your family to be a part of our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Religious Education, Edge, or Life Teen programs! Below are details for each of the options for programming.

ALL SESSIONS BEGIN THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 18, 2016

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (COGS)
This is a profound spiritual method of religious formation for young children from 3 to 5 years of age. COGS facilitates your child's basic need and capacity to enjoy the presence of God through presentations and works rooted in Sacred Scripture, Liturgy, and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The Catechesis is based on the conviction that God and your child are in a relationship. We believe that the growth of this relationship is directed by the Spirit of God already within your child and that each child has a deep need to experience God's presence in their lives and a special capacity to enjoy that presence. An all new offering of COGS Level 2 will be held on Thursday Afternoons. Please note, only children who have completed COGS Level 1 will be able to register for Level 2.

Kindergarten Religous Education
Two programs will be offered for children in Kindergarten during the 2016-2017 school year. Traditional Religious Education (Kindergarten) is offered during the same times as 1-5 Grade RE; A new offering of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd will also be offered on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons only.

Traditional RE- offered during all RE Session Times

Elementary Religious Education - Kindergarten - 5th Grade (Blitz)

This program provides religious formation opportunities for students Kindergarten through Grade 5 (Blitz) with a choice of three times.

Children are engaged through videos, stories, Scripture, prayer and reflections combined with various teaching methods to learn more about their faith and to experience community. Students will learn in a spiral method, meaning all ages will study the same subject at the same session time in an age appropriate manner.

Our St. Andrew the Apostle Religious Education program recognizes the family as the Domestic Church, offering parents opportunities and tools to share the richness of our faith with their own children, including scheduled "Family Sessions" where parents are asked to attend with the students.

Edge Middle School Ministry

EDGE is a Catholic middle school youth ministry experience created for early adolescents in grades 6-8. Our program is designed to meet the educational, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of young adolescents. As a Catholic Community, we are going to give our middle school youth the EDGE they need in life: Jesus, the Word, the Eucharist, and the Church!

Sundays: 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Please Note: Meals are available for purchase after the 5:00pm Life Teen Mass. Look for Cafe.com selling after Mass in the courtyard.

Life Teen High School Ministry

St. Andrew the Apostle's Life Teen Program is a Eucharist centered Catholic program for high school teens grades 9-12. By sharing the teachings of our Church and through powerful encounters with Christ, we help the teens grow in knowledge of our faith while transforming their hearts to help them passionately live out the gospel by serving and loving one another. Through fellowship and open and honest discussion we grow closer to one another and Christ knowing that we walk this journey together. Life Teen is a non-classroom model and encourages our teens to grow their relationship with Christ while preparing them to defend an authentic Catholic identity through their teen years. Every Sunday, we meet after Mass for a Life Night. These nights focus on either catechetical teachings, cultural issues teens face, or social gatherings. Please Note: Teens and their families are encouraged to attend the Life Teen Mass before each Life Night at 5:00pm and sit in our LIfe Teen section!
